AS FAR has been knocked out of the CAF Champions League despite securing a 2-0 victory against Egypt’s Pyramids FC on Tuesday at the Honneur Stadium in Meknès. The match was the second leg of the quarterfinals, but the Rabat-based club couldn’t overcome the 4-1 defeat suffered in the first leg.
Youssef El Fahli gave AS FAR an early lead with a goal in the 8th minute, followed by a second from Joel Beya in the 82nd minute. The Moroccan side came close to pulling off a dramatic comeback, but ultimately fell short of advancing to the semifinals of the prestigious African competition.
Elsewhere in the quarterfinal second-leg action on Tuesday, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Egypt’s Al Ahly SC secured their spots in the semifinals, continuing their strong runs in this season’s tournament.
