In a thrilling European night at Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League final for the 2024-2025 season by defeating Arsenal 2-1 in the second leg of the semi-final, completing a 3-1 aggregate victory. The French champions will now face Inter Milan in the final.
Arsenal started with attacking intent, but it was PSG who struck first. In the 27th minute, Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz fired a powerful shot that beat the Arsenal defense and goalkeeper, giving PSG a crucial lead.
In the 69th minute, PSG were awarded a penalty, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya denied Vitinha’s poorly taken spot-kick, briefly keeping the visitors’ hopes alive.
However, just three minutes later, Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi extended PSG’s lead with a thunderous strike in the 72nd minute. Arsenal responded quickly, as Bukayo Saka scored in the 76th minute to make it 2-1. He later missed a golden chance to equalize, sending the ball wide with the goal wide open.
Despite late pressure from Arsenal, PSG held firm to seal the win and qualify for their second Champions League final in club history.
Paris Saint-Germain will face Inter Milan—who defeated Barcelona in the other semi-final—on May 31 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
