The national “Ramadan 1446” operation was launched on Monday under the High Instructions of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Khadija. This year’s initiative is notable for the first-time use of socio-economic data from households registered in the Unified Social Register (RSU), according to Souad Boulouiz, project director at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
The RSU data allowed the Ministry of the Interior to update the list of households eligible for food aid, ensuring a more efficient and targeted distribution, Boulouiz explained. The use of this national information system aims to refine the identification of beneficiaries and enhance the effectiveness of social programs.
This year, the operation will benefit one million households, with 74% of recipients living in rural areas, she added.
Sanae Dardikh, communications director at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, emphasized that this annual initiative reinforces the values of generosity and solidarity within Moroccan society, particularly by supporting the most vulnerable populations, including widows, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
With a budget of 330 million dirhams, the “Ramadan 1446” operation will distribute 34,280 tonnes of essential food supplies, including flour, milk, rice, oil, sugar, tomato paste, vermicelli, lentils, and tea.
Funded by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, this initiative is an integral part of the humanitarian efforts led by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity. It aims to provide vital assistance to those in need while fostering a culture of social support and unity.
