In a long-awaited historic achievement, Morocco’s U-17 national team has been crowned champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, after defeating Mali in the final held at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia. This marks the first time Morocco has won the title in this age category.
The match ended in a goalless draw (0-0) after regular time, despite both teams’ attempts to break the deadlock.
In the penalty shootout, Moroccan goalkeeper Chouaib Belaârouch shined, saving two penalties and securing a 4-2 victory for Morocco.
The Atlas Cubs demonstrated strong tactical discipline and fighting spirit, dominating the game and creating several scoring chances, though they lacked finishing luck. On the other hand, Mali’s defense held firm under Moroccan pressure, forcing the game into penalties.
A large and enthusiastic crowd filled the stands of El Bachir Stadium, passionately supporting the national team and giving players a significant morale boost to achieve this historic feat.
Several sports officials were also present and expressed pride in the national team’s achievement.
This title reflects the success of the youth development policy led by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which is now bearing fruit across various age categories. It also further strengthens Morocco’s status as an emerging football powerhouse in Africa.
Congratulations to the Atlas Cubs, with best wishes for more success ahead!
